Black Devil OE is a Caridina shrimp recognised for its intense black coloration and distinctive orange eyes. The photographed shrimp displays deep, nearly solid black pigmentation extending across the head, carapace and abdomen, creating a sleek monochromatic appearance. Its bright orange-to-golden eyes provide a striking point of contrast against the dark body and are the defining feature of the Orange Eye phenotype. Black coverage, opacity and subtle undertones can naturally vary between individuals, while the combination of dark pigmentation and contrasting eyes gives this Devil line its distinctive appearance.
Black Devil OE shrimp are best maintained in a mature, fully cycled soft-water aquarium with stable conditions. A buffering active substrate paired with remineralised RO water is commonly used to maintain the low KH and mildly acidic environment preferred by specialised Caridina. Provide established biofilm, mosses and other grazing surfaces alongside a balanced shrimp diet. Avoid sudden changes in temperature, TDS or mineral concentration, particularly during water changes. Careful acclimation and consistent water chemistry are important for healthy moulting, long-term maintenance and breeding.
