Pure Red Line (PRL) Caridina Shrimp – Red & White Pattern

Pure Red Line (PRL) is a Caridina cantonensis shrimp selectively maintained for its classic red and white Crystal Red appearance. The photographed shrimp displays strong opaque white coverage contrasted by well-defined red sections across the head, carapace and abdomen. PRL shrimp are valued by breeders for maintaining dedicated Pure Red Line ancestry rather than incorporating Taiwan Bee genetics into the line. Individual shrimp can naturally vary in red coverage, white opacity and pattern placement, while retaining the distinctive high-contrast appearance associated with established PRL Caridina.

Care Notes

Pure Red Line shrimp are best maintained in a mature, fully cycled aquarium with clean, stable soft water. A buffering active substrate paired with remineralised RO water is commonly used to provide the mildly acidic, low-KH conditions preferred by Crystal Red Caridina. Provide established biofilm, mosses and other grazing surfaces alongside a balanced shrimp diet. Avoid rapid changes in temperature, TDS or mineral concentration during maintenance and water changes. Stable parameters, careful acclimation and consistent water quality are particularly useful when maintaining a PRL colony for long-term health and selective breeding.
